Son's birth certificate!?

My son is already 7 months old and still haven't received his birth certificate! I live in Chesapeake Virginia. I don't know what i should do. I already have his ss# after 7 weeks. But no birth certificate. Can someone tell me what to do?.. I need his birth certificate because we're planning to go on a vacation. Thanks!
