PET RAT HELP PLZ!!! DONT KNOW HOW TO PICK THEM UP!!!?

how should i pick my pet rat up. by her tail or lay my hand out and pick her up that wya. i know your not suppose to pick her up from the top cause they get scarred. help plzzz!!
